Best known as, SOPHIE, was a Scottish music producer and songwriter. SOPHIE’s work is best known for its experimental sound design and bold take on pop music— later to be more known as hyper-pop. In 2019, SOPHIE became the first openly transgender woman to be nominated for a Grammy. Through her work, SOPHIE collaborated alongside other musical artists such as Vince Staples and Madonna. SOPHIE’s work most notably experiments with bold and harsh-sounding sound design that contrast a gritty industrial heaviness with clear vocals; creating a truly notorious listening experience. Unfortunately, SOPHIE passed away at the age of 34 after a tragic falling accident, leaving behind an immense catalogue of influential music.
