Guadalupe Olmedo:

The Mexican composer and pianist, Guadalupe Olmedo was the first known female Mexican composer who wrote in the classical genre. Having studied in the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico, Olmedo’s whimsical melodies her lush sense of harmony as she focused many of her studies within her education on harmony. Within her final exam at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico Olmedo presented Quartetto Studio Classico, Op. 14. For this composition the Sociedad Filharmonica Mexicana awarded Olmedo with the honor of being deemed there first Mexican woman to compose in a classical style.
