The Chinese and Canadian-born artist, Qing Han (known online as Qinni) was an inspiration to millions through her online and professional influence and presence. Han’s immense online influence through her vibrant and profoundly personal pieces displays the growing avenue online social media platforms provide for contemporary artists to begin their artist careers and influence thousands of individuals through their work. Qing Han began displaying her painted and digital work through an online gallery on Diviantart (an online artistic community); however, her work’s influence immensely increased through her online success on Instagram, Youtube, and various other social media platforms. Qing Han worked within the Titmouse animation studio as a background painter while continuing to increase her community online. Han’s most renown piece, Starred Freckles, is a grand display of her mesmerising artistic style as she utilizes the display of constellations and other celestial features to create vibrant compositions involving a delicate and elegant central subject. Yet, her whimsical and vibrant artistic style juxtaposes the profound personal introspection present within Han’s pieces. As Qinni (her online alias) was transparent regarding her health struggles— surviving four open heart surgeries due to a genetic cardiac disorder— many of her pieces’ vibrant colorations are contrasted by the themes of mental and physical health struggles. Han’s strength and continued creation of marvellous pieces despite her physical and mental health issues provided a great source of inspiration, through her display of immense resilience, to her community of 2.3 million. After a long battle with cardiac issues and stage four Fibrosis Sarcoma, Qing Han sadly passed away in February of 2020. After her passing, the online art community across various social media platforms displayed their enduring respect and love for the artist by paying homage to the artist's piece Starred Freckles and speaking out about Han’s brilliance as an artist, inspirational individual, and the influence she has had on millions of lives. Qinni’s work and legacy will continue standing as a beautiful representation of the impact a single individual’s brilliance and artistic work can have on the lives of multiple generations of artists.
